The Volkswagen Passat was originally a large family car from the house of Volkswagen. In January, 2011, Volkswagen announced that the New Midsize Sedan being built in North American market which would be named Passat.  The latest 2011 edition belongs to the seventh generation of the car and sports an all-new design.

The car has a fresh new look, both inside and out, with every panel and glass surface brand new – except for the roof. The cosmetic changes of the new car has been done according to the new corporate look of Volkswagen. The old car’s curves and circular lights have been replaced by clear cut lines and simple accessories like the recent Volkswagen cars and it has a very upmarket look. The horizontal chrome strips in the grille give a wider appearance to the car with the Volkswagen logo sitting proudly in the middle. The designs of the lights in chrome finish make the front look like the wing of a racing car. The bolder creases across the length of the car and the bonnet make it look well carved.  The sharp belt-line that borders the car from front to back looks striking and classy. The smart-looking rear view mirrors come with built-in turn-signals. The rear too looks gorgeous. The touch of chrome adds a luxurious look to the car.

The interior has an uncluttered, clear and simple look with classic upholstery.  It is not overdone and the elegantly simple interior of the new Passat is a classic example of what true class is. High-quality materials are used and the finish is superb. The layout of the instrument panel is also simple and stands for what it is. Suitable for both official and personal use, it symbolises comfort and luxury. The deluxe air conditioning package includes high quality leather or fabric climate-controlled comfort seats in the front.

The new car is equipped with the latest technology so that it can offer cutting edge performance and driving comfort and become the most high-tech and economical cars in the high range segment.  The car is available in both petrol and diesel version with different capacity. Even with a diesel engine, the car is noiseless. The advance soundproofing measures like extra thick windows, and a windscreen that features a thin plastic film sandwiched between two layers of glass lets you travel in peace. The entry level 1.6 litre TDI 195 PS engine offers an amazing 65.7 mpg in the combined cycle. For your secure and safe journey, six air-bags, ABS braking and an electronic stabilization programme come with Passat as standard.

The Passat’s best star feaure is VW’s Park Assist system which is quite fun. Activated by pressing a button on the centre console, the Park Assist system detects a suitable space and then manoeuvres the steering automatically.  Another high tech features is Dynamic Light Assist which enhances the pleasure of driving. The new Passat also comes with BlueMotion technology, which is essentially a collection of eco-saving tricks to lower emissions and improve performance.

The stunning looking saloon is targeting companies rather than private buyers. With excellent road handling and steering responses, adequate performance with inherent class and plenty of interior space, Volkswagen Passat is truly an executive car.
