The speed loving Indian will definitely prefer this more powerful Punto which is powered by 90bhp 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine. The new Punto 90 bhp has lifted its engine from the Linea which has been made possible with a re-tuned engine featuring a variable geometry turbocharger instead of the fixed geometry turbocharger found on the 75 bhp Punto.
The Punto has been designed on the SCCS platform under a project jointly conducted by Fiat and Opel engineers in Turin. A very aggressive design with lots of Italian flair gives it a much better stance when compared to others. The front of the car is dominated by the chrome-plated front grille with the red and silver Fiat badge at its centre on the other hand the leaf-shaped headlamps extend to the front fenders.
The Fiat Grande Punto is a said to be the best looking car in the Fiat line up. The interior is equally similar by its sibling the Fiat Linea. The inside is ergonomically designed with grey and black dual tone interiors in the Emotion and the Emotion Pack variants. The interiors are clean with decent fit and finish made of the plastics having the Punto logo stitched on the seats and the floor mats too. Driver's seating has got maximum comfort as a result of the combination of tilt-adjustable steering and height adjustable driver's seat.
This diesel variant is the award winning 1.3-litre JTD diesel in two output levels and based on multijet technology. Its 1248cc, Multijet Turbo engine with new VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger) technology enhances the performance of this car along with its fuel efficiency and offers 14kmpl mileage in city and 19kmpl mileage on highway roads and produces maximum power of 76bhp power @ 4000rpm and 197Nm torque @ 1750. The diesel engine offers good acceleration to break the barrier of 100kmph in just 13.6 seconds and touch the top speed mark of 165kmph.
Composed ride and lively handling of fiat cars always touch your heart and the same feel is given by this Grande Punto which is no different from the rest of its siblings in this segment. The steering is fairly accurate, light, easily to steer at lower speeds, weighs up well at higher speeds and so is the driving dynamics. Though there are some negative points regarding Fiat service back up and A/C performance in peak summers but you will found, Punto 90 bhp is a car of driving enthusiasts and Fiat fans and it is a value for money package too.
