The budget smartphone sector is one of the largest growth areas in the mobile market. Wherein, HVGA Android devices are the wrath in the budget and mid-range smartphone market in India. Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 with the introduction of its first 320x480 HVGA-based Android phone into budget segment neither disappoints nor impresses.
Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 sporting a 3.5" screen, functions on an 800 MHz CPU and is powered by Android OS, v2.2 (Froyo) Operating System that allows for rich user experience where we can switch between different apps and pages with fast speed. The rear of the phone is not a smooth, glossy black finish like the Galaxy S range of phones. It has a diamond-shaped, roughish pattern and it feels excellent to touch. The device is very pretty in look and design with the dimension of 112.4 x 59.9 x 11.5 mm and 113 g of weight. Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 has a TFT capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors. The display screen is enhanced with Gorilla Glass display, Multi-touch input method, Accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, Touch-sensitive controls, and TouchWiz v3.0 U. the three shortcuts along the bottom of the display that lead to the home, the main menu and the back button. Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 equipped with 5MP camera has got 2592×1944 pixels of resolution. Other features are autofocus, LED flash to assist in low-light scenes, Geo-tagging, face and smile detection, though it does not support secondary camera. The image quality is as good and the contrast is nice as is the color rendering. Taking the design into consideration, it has got nothing new or innovative but the glossy front, silver sides and textured back which are smart enough. Connectivity wise, the Ace gives up little to top-end devices with micro USB and headphone sockets on the top edge, and for storage there’s a micro SD slot on the side. Both are covered, with the micro USB hidden behind a ridged plastic slider and the card slot by a softer plastic bung. To add on , it’s not the phone for which we can blabber around as it leave certain ruptures like its video recording is below par, the screen is just way too glossy and a finger print magnet. Another let-down is, no flash support and RAM of 278 MB only.
To wrap up in short, the Samsung Ace is a good phone which comes with a slightly larger than normal 3.5" screen. It also comes with the android market, wherein we can find a ton of apps to fit our needs. So it is a good phone, but brings nothing ground-breaking to this segment.
